The Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing, Engineering and Automation (IPA) in Stuttgart, Germany works in the field of research and development of optimal solutions for the European machinery and supplier industry. Solutions for organizational and technological functions in the production sector of industrial companies form the main areas of research and development work. Fraunhofer IPA covers all key elements of machine-tools design processes having experience in modelling, construction and simulation of the corresponding functionalities.

Harms & Wende is a medium-sized producer of control systems in the welding sector. With the control system of Harms & Wende it is possible to master all forms of resistance welding technology such as spot, projection and seam welding. Harms & Wende supplies resistance welding equipment in form of control devices, quality assurance systems and complete packages.
Currently the company is involved in three European research projects. Within SelSus, Harms & Wende leads a workpackage which works on a new generation of intelligent equipment for shop floor to increase the efficiency of manufacturing by in-situ repair and self-healing processes and components.

Its strategy consists in the development of innovative consumer-oriented products with an intelligent design and low environmental impact. Since 2004, the Group is gradually restructuring its production units through planned manufacturing footprint projects and programs focused on continuous improvements in terms of product quality, costs, inventory reduction, employee safety and environmental impact. The topics tacked by SelSus project are considered key elements in these initiatives
XETICS GmbH‟s personnel have long time experience in Manufacturing-IT topics, such as Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Equipment Integration realised in many projects in industry as well as research environment.
IEF Werner is a manufacturer of automation components with 135 employees. It is well known as a leading specialist of transport and positioning systems worldwide. The wide range of components for all automation and handling applications e.g. positioning units or servo presses ensures a flexible assembly of production lines.
IEF Werner will mainly act as a technology provider for linear axes. In addition, IEF Werner will contribute to the demonstration scenarios by setting up a SelSus based automation component.
advanced data processing GmbH is a small German company specialised in consulting for data processing and signal analysis as well as control loop analysis and design. Furthermore adp develops costumer specific software components related to automatic process control and automatic data analysis. Within SelSus project adp is responsible for signal processing and data fusion algorithms.
Gamax Ltd. was founded in 1990. Gamax Ltd. is a software developer company with 80 full-time employees, supporting some freelancers also. Main activities are: software development, IT manpower leasing, IT consulting, software localization and translation, hardware/software distribution. Gamax headquarter can be found in Budapest, capital of Hungary.
Within SelSus project Gamax is responsible for the IT side: investigation, research, development and testing software from the IT aspect of view.
HUGIN is a Danish software company established in 1989. The company has significant expertise in the application of Bayesian networks and influence diagrams and the development of supporting software. HUGIN will contribute to the software developments in SelSus including the development of Bayesian networks and influence diagrams for diagnosis and decision support. HUGIN is leading Work Package 4 on Self-diagnosis models and algorithms for Renovation and Repair.
ISR-P is a research unit hosted at FEUP - Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto to carry out R&D activities in advanced systems and control concepts, tools and technologies for a wide range of areas encompassing robotics, automation, networked vehicles and systems, and, in particular, new emerging network centric systems with high societal impact. The key role of ISR-P in SelSus Project is, once again, related with Sensor Networks, but more oriented to the development of Smart Sensor Nodes to intelligently analyse and treat sensor data, towards the implementation of techniques like decision making, data reduction and cross-sensor validation.

Ford’s powertrain manufacturing facilities are constantly being challenged to deliver higher levels of productivity and machine uptime. Ford is supporting the Selsus project as an end user, providing real-life data and development scenarios.
The High Speed Sustainable Manufacturing Institute (HSSMI) conducts research aimed at improving the efficiency of European Manufacturers. It brings together academic institutions, end users and their supply chain partners to create a coherent multi-industry partnership focused on designing internationally leading manufacturing systems. HSSMI operates on a 'not for profit' basis reinvesting all earnings back into the objectives of the Institute.
